The used Mazda Tribute is a nice-looking, roomy and functional vehicle that can be purchased for a reasonable price. It was developed in association with Ford and offers a car-like uni-body construction with fully independent suspension. The interior of the used Mazda Tribute is rather old-style and plain-looking; however, it does feel comfortable and roomy. There is plenty of head room and the tall driver's position offers good visibility. The split rear seat can be easily folded flat for extra cargo room while the rear hatch window opens separately. The Tribute drives very well for an SUV and offers excellent manoeuvrability. The 2.3 litre 4 cylinder engine feels adequate; however, those who prefer faster acceleration should look around for a used Mazda Tribute with a 3.0 litre V6 engine. The available four wheel drive system provides good traction on a slippery road, although it's not designed for heavy off-road driving. In the NHTSA frontal crash test, the 2001-2004 used Mazda Tribute received five stars for the driver and four stars for the front passenger. The 2004-2006 Tribute has four stars for both the driver and the front passenger. Overall, it is a spacious Mazda SUV with good on and off road properties that can be recommended for anyone seeking a pre-owned family car for moderate money.
